About the Department - Computer Information Systems

 Introduction

The Department of Computer Information Systems (CIS) was established in the 2002/2003 academic year to cope with the expansion of the information technology world.

The department of CIS provides students with a variety of subjects related to information systems analysis and design, data retrieval systems, data warehousing and archiving, network management, commerce, and electronic transactions, information security, and related studies.

The department aims to prepare graduates with scientific and practical skills to plan, develop, design, and manage information systems that serve various institutions and organizations.

Mission 

Preparing distinguished cadres in computer information systems capable of building and analyzing computer information systems according to the labor market and community service requirements

Objectives 

  1. Preparing qualified graduates in the field of computer information systems, and ready for the labor market locally and regionally.
  2. Encouraging students to be creative and innovative in applying and developing computer information systems programs.
  3. Promoting the concepts of work ethics in the environment of computer information systems.
  4. Development of graduates qualified to participate and work together in the environment and applications of computer information systems.
  5. Analyzing, applying and evaluating issues and providing solutions related to computer information systems programs.
  6. Motivating and encouraging the graduates to interact appropriately with the various workers in the field of information systems such as: users, managers, developers, analysts and others who have a relationship with computer information systems.

            PLOS COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEM (CIS)

Program Learning Outcomes describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. These relate to the knowledge, skills, and behaviours that students acquire as they progress through the program. A graduate of the (CIS) program will demonstrate

Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.

Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline

Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts

Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles..

Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.

Support the delivery, use, and management of information systems within an information systems environment. [IS]
