Abstract | The widespread adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology has significantly impacted the construction industry worldwide, including the Middle East region, particularly in Jordan. BIM has emerged as a powerful tool in enhancing project design and implementation in Jordan, requiring engineering design offices to possess the necessary knowledge and skills to leverage their full potential. However, without a comprehensive understanding of BIM technology, many design offices may fail to utilize their capabilities throughout the project lifecycle fully. This study aimed to develop a model for evaluating the level of BIM implementation performance in engineering design offices in Jordan. A thorough review of the scientific literature was conducted to gather relevant knowledge and best practices regarding key performance indicators (KPIs) to achieve the research objectives. Additionally, interviews were conducted with BIM experts to identify the most critical and relevant indicators for BIM implementation. A questionnaire was then administered to assess the impact of these KPIs on BIM implementation in various design, engineering, and consulting offices, as well as among BIM specialists and project management professionals in Jordan. The collected data was analyzed to determine the influence of performance indicators on BIM implementation in Jordanian engineering design offices and to formulate a comprehensive evaluation model based on these indicators. The results demonstrated that all the identified key performance indicators significantly influenced BIM implementation in engineering design offices in Jordan. As a result, the proposed model will facilitate the assessment of individual engineers' proficiency levels in BIM technology, enabling them to enhance their awareness, understanding, and skills for optimal utilization of this technology. Ultimately, this research aims to contribute to the advancement and adoption of BIM practices in the construction industry in Jordan, thereby enhancing project outcomes and overall efficiency. |
