Abstract | Renewable energy is rapidly growing, which is necessary for achieving sustainable and clean energy systems. Risk management strategies are very important to the success of the implementation of renewable energy projects. Large-scale renewable energy projects face numerous risks which can affect successful implementation. Managing these risks ensures that the long-term sustainability and viability of renewable energy initiatives are achieved. This research aims to develop an efficient and reliable risk assessment system for large-scale renewable energy in Jordan distribution networks based on fuzzy logic. It helps to identify and prioritize high-risk factors and proposes practical mitigation measures that provide valuable insights for stakeholders involved in the sector. To achieve that a mixed method approach for data collection purposes is used, such as a literature review, questionnaires, and interviews, data was collected through a questionnaire survey. Then the collected data was analyzed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process with Fuzzy logic (AHPF) technique and statistical analysis using SPSS. Additionally, interviews were conducted with experts to gather insights and recommendations for risk mitigation. The analysis of the collected data identified three high-risk factors (Change of strategy, Grid stability challenges, and Complex approval); these risks pose significant challenges to the successful implementation of large-scale renewable energy projects. Based on the interviews with industry experts, several recommendations were proposed to mitigate the identified risks. Including studying technical improvement solutions such as energy storage systems and smart grids, establishing specific and strict instructions to streamline project approvals, establishing a high-level long-term council for the energy, and Enhancing cooperation between regulators and developers. This research highlights the importance of effectively managing risks in large-scale renewable energy projects. The findings underscore the significance of addressing risks related to strategy changes, grid stability, and approval processes. The proposed recommendations provide actionable steps for stakeholders to mitigate these risks and enhance the success of renewable energy initiatives in distribution networks |
