Abstract | This research investigates the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) within the supply chain management practices of the construction industry, with a specific focus on the context. Through an extensive literature review, the study explores the interplay between BIM and supply chain management, elucidating both its advantages and challenges. To evaluate the state of supply chain management practices in Jordan's construction sector, a survey was conducted. The results underscore prevalent communication and information-related obstacles within the supply chain, emphasizing the imperative for enhanced collaboration and transparency. Based on insights derived from the literature review and survey findings, a well-defined conceptual framework has been formulated to seamlessly integrate BIM into the supply chain management process. This model underscores the importance of clearly defined roles and responsibilities among stakeholders, streamlined data sharing and collaboration processes, and robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. The proposed framework aims to elevate communication, coordination, and decision-making in construction projects, ultimately leading to improved project outcomes. The research problem identified lies in the communication and information-related challenges within the construction supply chain in Jordan. Poor communication, inadequate coordination, inefficient data management, and limited transparency impede the smooth functioning of the supply chain, negatively impacting project performance. Employing a mixed-methods approach, this study utilized both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, employing a survey distributed via Google Forms to gather results. To acquire quantitative data on the challenges related to communication and information within the construction supply chain, a questionnaire was employed. Subsequent to statistical analysis, interviews were conducted with BIM experts based in Jordan to develop a conceptual model utilizing BIM to address the identified challenges in communication and information within the construction supply chain. In summary, this research contributes insights into the impact of BIM on supply chain management practices within Jordan's construction industry. With practical recommendations for industry professionals and decision-makers, the study provides guidance on leveraging BIM to enhance supply chain management. Through the implementation of the suggested framework, stakeholders in the construction industry can optimize their supply chain operations, enhance project effectiveness, and achieve superior project results. |
