Abstract | This study examines the practicality and financial consequences of implementing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in Amman's commercial and industrial sectors. It addresses the urgent need for sustainable energy solutions to meet growing energy demands and mitigate environmental issues. High upfront costs, a lack of awareness, and technological barriers hinder the adoption of solar energy despite its numerous advantages. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, incorporating quantitative data from a structured questionnaire and qualitative data from a feasibility study. Stakeholders completed a questionnaire based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to evaluate their perceptions of ease of use, usefulness, environmental consciousness, costs and affordability, customer attitudes, and purchase intentions regarding solar PV systems. The feasibility study assessed various solar energy projects in Amman, examining their economic benefits, project scale, initial expenditures, and potential cost savings. Findings suggest that customers' perceptions of the usefulness of solar PV systems and their level of environmental consciousness significantly impact their attitudes toward these systems. Additionally, positive attitudes are strongly associated with a higher likelihood of intending to purchase solar PV systems. While costs and perceived affordability have a limited effect, they are crucial to decision-making. Incorporating heat pump solar technology further strengthens the positive correlation between customer attitudes and purchase intentions, highlighting the benefits of combining renewable technologies. This study emphasises the importance of perceived benefits and environmental consciousness in promoting solar PV systems. Specific strategies are needed to address economic challenges and promote technological and environmental advantages of solar energy. Future research should include longitudinal studies, broader geographic scopes, technological advancements, policy impact analysis, and the exploration of behavioural aspects. This comprehensive approach will help establish effective and sustainable energy policies and practices, enhancing Jordan's energy resilience and environmental sustainability. The study reveals that factors influencing the adoption of solar energy systems include perceived usefulness (B = 0.778), environmental awareness (re = 0.62), and costs and affordability (rc = 0.15), with a strong positive impact on purchase intentions (rp = 0.75), which is further enhanced by other renewable technologies.
