Abstract | Background: Chronic diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, and chronic respiratory conditions, are prevalent worldwide and pose significant challenges, particularly in regions like Jordan. They account for 78% of total deaths in Jordan, reflecting a substantial public health and healthcare resource burden. Globally, chronic diseases are responsible for 71% of all deaths annually, with a disproportionately severe impact on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). In Jordan, the rising prevalence of chronic illnesses necessitates the integration of evidence-based approaches in nursing care. Despite the recognized effectiveness of these approaches in enhancing patient care quality, their adoption faces challenges due to educational gaps and limited opportunities for professional development. Purpose: this study aims to examine the perspectives and actual practices regarding evidence-based approaches among Jordanian nurses in chronic care, identifying areas for improvement in education and application. The focus is on integrating evidence-based practice (EBP) within chronic nursing care, exploring the gap between perspective and practical implementation, particularly in developing countries like Jordan. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted with 244 nurses across various healthcare settings in Jordan. The survey evaluated the level of perspectives and practices of evidence-based practice. Results: The study revealed a significant discrepancy between the nurses' perspectives of EBP and its practical implementation. Although 90.6% of nurses expressed positive beliefs about the EBP in enhancing patient care quality, only 15.1% applied these practices in their daily clinical settings effectively. This gap is primarily attributed to inadequate EBP-related education during nursing training and insufficient continuous professional development. Conclusion: The findings highlight an urgent need for educational reforms to enhance EBP content in nursing curricula and for the expansion of professional development programs that focus on the practical application of EBP. Addressing these needs is crucial for advancing the management of chronic diseases in Jordan and aligning with global healthcare standards. Improved educational strategies and professional support will enable nurses to transform their positive beliefs into consistent EBP application, thus improving patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency. The findings aim to inform targeted improvements in training and policy, ultimately enhancing the quality of chronic disease management in Jordan.
