Abstract | Background: Post-Covid Syndrome (PCS) refers to the manifestation of signs and symptoms that occur either during or after a COVID-19 infection, last for a duration exceeding 12 weeks, and cannot be attributed to any other medical condition. The symptoms of Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 (PASC) might exhibit a range of intensities and endure for several months following the primary infection. The symptoms encompass fatigue, muscular and joint discomfort, sleep disturbances, impacts on respiratory and cardiovascular health, and cognitive impairments. Objective: This study examines the relationship between self-care practices and dyspnea experienced by post-COVID-19 patients at Prince Hamza Hospital. Methods: A descriptive quantitative cross-sectional study. The thoracic clinic in Prince Hamzah Hospital. Using convenience non-probability sampling, 100 patients were enrolled. Shortness of Breath was assessed using the Dyspnea-12 questionnaire, while the Self-Care Activities Screening Scale (SASS-14) was used to assess self-care behaviors. Results: The research included a total of one hundred patients. The mean age of the sample was 41.6±13.6 years old, and 35% of the participants were aged between 45 and 59 years. Of the total, 60% were females, 39.0% were university graduates, and 29% were housewives. 86% of the research participants resided in urban regions. The study's findings indicate that almost 50% of the participants were non-smokers, and a comparable proportion did not have a history of chronic diseases (55.0% and 54.0% respectively). The majority of them experience difficulty breathing. The average O2 saturation among research participants was 84.8±6.3. Over half (57%) had an O2 saturation value between 80-89. Conclusion: Dyspnea in post-COVID-19 individuals is complex, with many causes and manifestations; here, the study highlights the strong associations between age, education level, and dyspnea intensity. According to the research, educational interventions may improve self-management behaviors, which can lessen the severity of dyspnea. It is important to be health aware while treating diseases after COVID-19. The findings also show that self-care activities, such as regular exercise and breathing exercises, may greatly reduce dyspnea symptoms.
