The aim of this study is to figure out the impact of poor planning that leads to a delay in the application of construction projects. The current study identifies the factors that contribute in poor planning, which in turn can impact the duration of the project and therefore postpone the process of project implementation. The researcher distributed a questionnaire to a sample that comprises 325 engineers. The questionnaire included 10 sub-variables and 38 scale measures. Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS program. The results of the study showed that 65.86% of the participants mentioned that contracting companies and engineering offices have a problem in understanding the concept of planning. In consequence, this will impact the project plan and the time of project completion. According to the results of this study, there is a negative impact by 67.60% of officials in contracting companies on using the planning approach. This as a result can reduce the importance of planning for these companies. It has been clarified that officials avoid incurring the trouble of preplanning work, because they think that it is a waste of time. Thus, this is reflected negatively on the specified completion time of the project.
