The construction sector in Jordan is one of the depleting sectors, where the reasons for this depleting are related to many contentious problems in projects. These problems are related to the project's budget before tendering and after execution and the existence of variation orders. Thus, if such issues were not treated with the right actions and a specified strategy to be implemented in Jordan, it would turn the problem in hand into a long-term problem. Therefore, this research was dealt with through analyzing all the required steps to apply value engineering from the early stages till the final stages. Therefore, value engineering significance was checked through an extensive literature review. Based on a specified case study for a construction project related to one of the governmental bodies to show the influence of applying this approach on the total project cost. Applying value engineering to structural works has reduced its total cost using many softwares such as ETABS, PROKON, ACE-OCP, and Scada-Pro, and utilizing the manual design to make some modifications with commitment to the design code of Jordan. Then, applying value engineering to the architectural works by reviewing the plans and decorative options led to proposing many alternatives, considering choosing the alternative with the lowest cost but among quality required criteria. Accordingly, the purpose of applying value engineering was reached by reducing the total project cost by a percentage of (9.25%) and showing the significance of applying value engineering on projects.
