Abstract | Energy consumption remain Jordan's top challenge, due to Jordan's limited domestic resources, and the increasing of energy demand. The energy consumption in Amman City has increased over the years. The household sector represents 21.5% of final energy consumption and 45.5% of electrical energy demand is in the residential sector which has the largest share. While some studies have examined energy conservation in the Jordanian Residential Sector, few have done so in the context of green high-rise building apartments. Therefore, this study aims to achieve a sustainable green design in the Jordanian high-rise residential sector through evaluating an existing project according to Jordan's Green Building Code. The methodology that is going to be used is the descriptive-analytical method. The annual energy performance will be calculated using a stimulation software EnergyPlus. Most of the work done in EnergyPlus is through OpenStudio, which is a Plug-in that allows you to use Sketchup 8 tools to create and edit EnergyPlus zones and faces. This study will help identifying new design techniques that will help execute green energy-efficiency projects. Several sustainable green alternatives were proposed to reduce the project total energy consumption such as applying a 4 inches thermal insulation to the building envelope, implementing 50 inches horizontal shading devices on the towers and installing a solar photovoltaic system. The result showed that the accepted improvements will reduce the total energy bill by 27.15%.
