Abstract | Introduction: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a major challenge and serious problem especially during pregnancy and the postpartum period, the incidence rate of pregnancy-related VTE is 1.2 per 1,000 deliveries. Although this absolute risk is considered low, pregnancy-related venous thromboembolism is a leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. Maternal VTE diagnosis is one of the most difficult challenges because there is no validated scoring system to evaluate VTE risk during pregnancy. Increasing patients' awareness, especially the pregnant females about VTE signs and symptoms, VTE risk factors and the rationale for thromboprophylaxis will enhance patients' involvement in the disease management. The present study aimed to assess Jordanian females' knowledge about pregnancy-associated venous thromboembolism and evaluate the consequences of venous thromboembolism on their concerns about upcoming pregnancy. Method: A cross-sectional web-based questionnaire was conducted among Jordanian females between the ages of 18 and 45. A total of 1007 participants were included in the study. Age, marital status, average monthly income, educational level, residency were among the closed-ended questions included in the survey. The patients' knowledge and concerns regarding DVT and PE were also evaluated. The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 28. Results: about 515 (51%) women were aware of VTE, while 492 (49%) were not aware of VTE. The logistic regression model was built to predict VTE knowledge in which the odds of having of having Bachelor degree is 2 with 95%CI (1.43- 2.95), p < 0.001, the odds of having post-graduate education is 1.85 with 95% CI (1.22- 2.79), p =0.004, and the odds of taking a non-pharmacological prevention or treatment is 3.2 with 95%CI (1.68- 6.54), and the odds of having surgeries is 1.55 with 95% CI (1.2-2.02), p<0.001. There was a statistically significant correlation between VTE concerns and VTE knowledge score, p <0.001. Conclusion: Females awareness of DVT and PE, according to the findings of this study was low. Having bachelor and post-graduate, taking a non-pharmacological prevention or treatment, and having a previous surgery were all linked to more VTE knowledge. Future VTE treatment programs should focus on raising female knowledge of VTE, its causes, signs and symptoms, risk factors, and possible consequences.
