Abstract | The necessity to utilize recycled resources into building and pavement products, such as waste rubber, has gained world attention in the last decades. Using Crump Rubber (CR) in mortar/concrete mixtures will eliminate landfill areas and decrease the exhaustion of natural aggregate (NA) used in concrete products, as well as the positive impact of Crump Rubber on environmental and economic development, concrete products should be maintained and achieved. This research will study the efficiency of exchanging Natural Fine Aggregate (NFA) retained on sieves no.8 and no.16 by CR as a fine aggregate by maintaining the same volume. this study was limited to replacing the volume of fine aggregate retained on sieve No.8 and No.16 with consideration of the same volume of CR retained on the same sieve size, a different strategy would be followed and based on replacing 50%, and 100% consequently from the retained fine aggregate on sieves no. 8 and no. 16. The aim of this research would make certain that the effect of workability is not significant as previous studies consideration, also the compressive strength of Crump Rubber Concrete (CRC) would be reduced as compared to the normal concrete mix (NRC), but not as predicted by earlier studies, this study verified that the relationship is not an inverse one with the increase of using volume of CR, also there was a major decrease in unit weight with a reduction reached a significant percentage of 50% and 100% volume replacement. |
