Public Law Department at the Faculty of Law

The Public Law Department at the Faculty of Law at Al-Isra’a University is one of the academic departments specializing in the study and teaching of various branches of public law. The Department provides students with the legal knowledge and analytical skills necessary to understand the legal rules governing the relationship between the state, individuals, and public institutions.

The Department specializes in teaching Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Financial Law, Criminal Law, and International Law in both their theoretical and practical dimensions, with particular emphasis on the Jordanian legislation governing these areas.

Areas of Public Law

The Public Law Department covers several fundamental areas of legal study. Constitutional Law focuses on the principles and rules governing the state, its system of government, public authorities, and fundamental rights and freedoms.

The Department also teaches Administrative Law, which deals with the organization and activities of public administration, administrative decisions, public institutions, and the legal relationship between administrative authorities and individuals.

Financial Law is another important area within the Department. It addresses the legal principles and rules related to public finance, public expenditure, public revenues, and other matters associated with the financial system of the state.

Criminal Law is also an essential field of study. Students examine the fundamental principles of criminal law, criminal offenses, penalties, and criminal responsibility, with particular attention to the relevant Jordanian legislation.

The Department also offers courses related to International Law, enabling students to understand the legal principles governing international relations and contemporary legal issues of an international nature.

Theoretical and Practical Legal Education

The Public Law Department seeks to integrate theoretical legal knowledge with practical application. In addition to studying legal principles and rules, students are encouraged to analyze legislation, examine judicial decisions, and apply legal rules to practical cases and legal situations.

This approach contributes to developing students’ analytical, critical thinking, and legal reasoning skills. It also enables them to apply their legal knowledge to practical situations that they may encounter during their future professional careers.

The Department also encourages students to develop their legal research skills and remain informed about legislative amendments, judicial developments, and contemporary legal scholarship related to public law.

Focus on Jordanian Legislation

Particular attention is given to the study of Jordanian legislation governing the different areas of public law. This focus enables students to understand the national legal framework and develop their ability to read, interpret, analyze, and apply legal texts.

Studying Jordanian legislation allows students to understand the relationship between legal rules and practical applications and to examine how legislation is applied in constitutional, administrative, financial, criminal, and international legal matters.

The Department also encourages students to follow legislative developments and amendments in order to ensure that their legal knowledge remains current and relevant to the requirements of the legal profession.

Academic Research and Development

The Public Law Department places significant importance on academic research as an essential component of developing legal knowledge. Faculty members and students are encouraged to conduct research on contemporary legal issues and examine legal challenges affecting society and public institutions.

The Department also supports academic and scientific activities, including conferences, seminars, workshops, and other legal events that provide opportunities for exchanging knowledge and experience and following developments in different areas of public law.

Accreditation and Quality Assurance

The Faculty of Law at Al-Isra’a University is generally and specifically accredited by the Higher Education Accreditation Commission in Jordan. This reflects the Faculty’s commitment to meeting recognized academic and educational standards.

The Faculty also obtained the Quality Assurance Certificate from the Higher Education Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission on December 9, 2020. This achievement reflects the Faculty’s efforts to develop the educational process, improve the quality of its academic programs, and enhance their educational outcomes.

The Public Law Department continues to operate within the Faculty’s academic framework to support continuous development in legal education and academic research and to enhance the quality of educational outcomes in accordance with students’ needs and the requirements of the labor market.
