ملخص الرسالة
The retrofitting of the Faculty of Engineering in Isra University into a Smart Green Sustainable Building at a prominent university serves as a case study to examine the integration of sustainability and advanced technology in an academic setting. This research utilized a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data from a Relative Importance Index (RII) with qualitative insights from stakeholder interviews to assess current energy consumption, sustainability practices, and stakeholder perceptions. The findings indicate strong support for incorporating renewable energy sources and smart technologies to enhance the building's sustainability. However, concerns about potential disruptions due to construction were significant. Stakeholders expressed a robust enthusiasm for the potential of the retrofit to improve learning environments and advance the university's sustainability goals. The research highlights challenges in transforming an engineering faculty building. The project's economic feasibility shows a 54% reduction in energy consumption with a five-year payback period. Energy-saving strategies such as solar panels and smart lighting systems can generate profit by reducing operational costs and improving energy efficiency.
