ملخص الرسالة
This study aims to address the impact of morphological awareness on the quality of translation by fourth-year university students in Jordan. This study used a descriptive, quantitative research method with a content analysis approach. This study was conducted at two Jordanian universities during the first semester of 2021-2022. This study included 227 participants from two universities (one private and one public) who had successfully completed the "semantics and syntax" courses. Three tasks (a translation test and a morphological awareness test which included two parts) were used to collect data. The tests were conducted online using Microsoft Teams. The data analysis was conducted to measure the impact of the participants' morphological awareness on the quality of their translation. The results showed that morphological awareness had a positive impact on the quality of the students' translation. The results also demonstrated that the levels of derivational affixes, inflectional suffixes, and translation were relatively high among the participants, though public university students had a slightly higher rate of morphological awareness than their counterparts at the private university in the tests. Furthermore, the participants' morphological awareness, especially with the rules of derivation and inflection, allowed their instructors to be able to evaluate the quality of their translation.
