ملخص الرسالة
The search for new materials to be used to produce sustainable and good quality concrete mixtures is one of the most prominent engineering research problems. One of these materials is the waste glass which quantities are increasing dramatically all over the world with serious consequences for environment and human health. Many studies were made to investigate the effect of adding glass waste to concrete mixtures in various percentages as coarse and fine aggregates. In this research, the effect of elevated temperatures, at 600 oC, on the compressive strength of concrete containing fine and coarse waste glass was investigated experimentally. Seven concrete mixtures were prepared: the control mixture, three mixtures containing 10%, 15%, 20% of glass waste as coarse aggregate, and three mixtures containing 10%, 15%, 20% of glass waste as fine aggregate. Three cubic samples of each mixture were prepared and tested. Half of the specimens were tested without burning for compressive strength after 28 days curing, while the other half was tested after elevating at 600 oC. The results showed that the compressive strength in concrete containing glass waste as coarse aggregate is less affected by high temperature than concrete containing fine glass waste. The minimum reduction in compressive strength is obtained when the percentage of coarse aggregate is 10%.
