On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University organized a training workshop entitled "Culture of Inclusive Education - Integration of the Visually Impaired", in cooperation with the Arab Episcopal High School for Inclusive Education (Irbid). Dr. Asmaa Al-Khawaldeh, Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, pointed out the importance of inclusive education and the role of the faculty in qualifying its students in this field and spreading awareness among community members interested in educating and integrating students with disabilities.
The workshop was organized by Dr. Iman Al-Zghoul in cooperation with the Director of the Arab Episcopal School, Ms. Sabah Al-Zuraiqat, and with the participation of a number of teachers and staff from the school. The Episcopal School is a pioneering model in implementing inclusive education for the visually impaired, as it has been working in this field for 22 years in northern Jordan.
The workshop included several topics, most notably: defining the concept of inclusive education, methods of dealing with the blind, and reviewing the educational methods used for the visually impaired. The workshop also witnessed the presentation of a set of brochures by Professor Sabah Al-Zuraiqat to the Isra University Library. The workshop was attended by a number of school principals, directors of special education centers, and special education specialists, in addition to faculty members and faculty students, which contributed to achieving its goals and enhancing awareness of the culture of inclusive education.
