Under the patronage of His Excellency Professor Faisal Al-Fayez, President of the Senate, the Scientific Day of the Faculty of Law was inaugurated, in the presence of His Excellency Professor Dr. Mohammad Hamed, President of the University, and a number of Their Excellencies, Highnesses, and Graces, and a number of national and legal figures. His Excellency Professor Dr. Mohammad Hamed, President of the University, welcomed the honorable attendees, pointing out that organizing this scientific day, entitled "The Commitment of the United Nations to Maintaining International Peace and Security between Theory and Practice" in light of the speech of His Majesty King Abdullah II at the seventy-ninth session of the United Nations General Assembly, represents a prominent station in the path of the Faculty of Law towards enhancing research work in international law and its application mechanisms.
In his speech, Al-Fayez said that the United Nations has failed to implement its charter and international humanitarian law and put an end to the massacres and war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people, referring to what His Majesty the King emphasized in his speech at the United Nations about the increasing crises that are ravaging international security and peace. In turn, the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Shawabkeh, explained that the scientific day discusses a number of working papers on the role of the Security Council in resolving international conflicts.
After the opening welcoming remarks, the dialogue sessions began, in which His Excellency, retired Lieutenant General Mr. Mamoun Al-Khasawneh (Chairman of the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law) spoke in the first session under the title “The Role of the UN Security Council in Resolving International Disputes (Palestine as a Model).” His Excellency, Professor Dr. Ayman Halasa (Director of the Information and Research Center - King Hussein Foundation) spoke in the second session under a legal analytical vision of the extent to which UN Security Council resolutions contribute to maintaining international peace and security.
In conclusion, His Excellency the University President presented a commemorative shield to Al-Fayez, and honored a number of researchers. It is worth noting that Isra University, through its various faculties, continues to provide distinguished academic programs and activities that contribute to the development of legal thought and scientific research in various fields. The university is keen to keep pace with new specializations by creating modern programs that meet the requirements of the labor market. Many specializations have also obtained international accreditations, which makes Isra University graduates able to compete in the local, regional and global markets.
In light of the university’s endeavor to fulfill its social responsibility, as well as its active role in developing society through multiple centers, such as the Center for Leadership and Creativity, the E-Learning Center, the Computer Center, the Health Center, the Child Rights Center, and the Center for Consulting, Training and Continuing Education.
