Under the patronage of His Excellency Professor Dr. Mohammad Hamed, President of the University, the training workshop for the Faculties of Engineering and Law was inaugurated. The workshop, titled "Arbitration in Construction Contracts," is part of the university's efforts to enhance legal and engineering knowledge among students and provide them with practical skills in specialized fields. The workshop was attended by deans, students, and participants from various national institutions.
His Excellency Professor Hamed welcomed the attendees, emphasizing that this workshop is part of the university's efforts to enhance legal and engineering knowledge in the field of contracts and construction and highlight the importance of arbitration as an effective means of resolving disputes.
His Excellency the President of the University indicated that the university seeks to link academics with practical reality by holding specialized workshops and training programs that meet the needs of the local market, contribute to building national capacities, and consolidate a culture of dialogue and professionalism in institutional work.
He also pointed out that the construction sector is a vital pillar in supporting the national economy, which calls for finding smart legal solutions that protect rights and accelerate the pace of achievement. This is what the university seeks to achieve through quality training programs that contribute to serving the community and meeting the demands of the local market.
His Excellency thanked and appreciated the lecturers for their valuable contributions, expressing his hope that this workshop would be an added building block that contributes to building sound legal and professional awareness and enhancing integration between disciplines.
Professor Dr. Mona Hindiya (Dean of the Faculty of Engineering) emphasized the importance of developing specialized professional cadres through joint training programs for engineers and lawyers, encouraging international professional certifications, and how to adapt contracts to local realities. She noted that the Faculty of Engineering believes that disciplines should not operate in isolated islands, but rather must work together and integrate to serve the community and provide realistic and effective solutions to the complex challenges we face.
Dr. Mahmoud Al-Shawabkeh (Dean of Law) emphasized the importance of arbitration in the field of engineering contracts, given the complex nature of contracts, the lengthy implementation period, and the multiplicity of parties involved.
Following the opening welcome remarks, the discussion sessions began. Dr. Hashem Al-Shahwan (a member of the Jordanian Bar Association Council) spoke in the first session, titled "The Importance of Arbitration in Attracting Investment."
The second session, titled "Arbitration in Construction Contracts," was presented by Thaer Al-Najdawi and Engineer Omar Al-Fazaa from Al-Najdawi Law Firm.
The workshop was well attended by faculty and administrative staff, students from both facultys, and a number of those interested in engineering and law. The workshop featured interactive presentations and discussions that enriched the content and reflected the attendees' interest in this vital topic.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants were honored with certificates in recognition of their active participation and dedication to developing their academic and practical skills.
