Students Affairs' Deanship

Science College was established at Al-Isra University in 2015 and started to accept students in both chemistry and physics majors at the beginning of the academic year 2015/2016. The establishment of this college was keeping with the tremendous and incredible scientific developments that are taking place in our time in different fields of science.

The main objective of the university is to afford our students the preeminent education and scientific preparation and training   so as to qualify them and also to  make them certified to join the different scientific, educational and industrial fields as well as  scientific research.

Science College is located at the campus of Al Isra University that offers to students all kinds of facilities on an area of three hundred thousand square meters on the way of the Queen Alia International Airport road close to Amman (the capital city of Jordan).  Since its foundation, Science College has sought to approve the latest teaching and training programs and to afford a distinctive and typical educational environment that stimulates innovation through its modern classroom facilities, laboratories and scientific tools. Science College has sought to attract the best qualified and knowledgeable academic, research and technical expertise. Moreover, the college has provided the opportunity and environment to all faculty members to perform scientific research in addition to the academic feature through granting scientific research support provided by Al Isra University.

On the other hand, the college offers several scientific courses  to other students  in other scientific colleges  at the university, including college  of pharmacy, engineering and nursing.

With great pride I welcome all visitors to this electronic site of the Faculty of Science at Al-Isra University. The faculty of Science provides three undergraduate (Baccalaureate) programs in: chemistry, physics, and Mathematics. Each is 135 credit hours, caters for high school graduates and extends over 4 years.

The aforementioned baccalaureate programs provide the students with dynamic educational experiences that encourage student-faculty interactions and offers theoretical and practical (hands-on) learning. The practice takes place in very well established laboratories. The Faculty of Science have five chemistry and five physics laboratories; all are equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The Faculty of Science aims at achieving excellence in teaching, scholarly productivity, community service, and continuous quality improvement. Our academic staff are committed to promote students’ learning, understanding, and appreciation of the disciplines within science, and mathematics. I am overwhelmed with happiness about the dedication of our hard-working staff in keeping the college running efficiently and in collegial manner, and about their enthusiasm in conducting research projects that cover issues of great importance in their fields.

After graduation from the Faculty of Science, students will be ready to take the next step in their careers, whether in teaching at schools, or in industry research labs, or in pursuing advanced graduate programs. If you are a high school student thinking about a major, consider a degree in Chemistry, or Physics, or Mathematics.

Last but not least, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to previous deans who contributed to the great foundation of this college on which to continue to build and shape its future success.

About the Department

The department of chemistry was established at the beginning of the academic year 2015/2016. This stemmed from Isra University’s keen interest in the basic sciences as essential to the development of other fields of science. The department has four faculty members who hold Ph.D. degrees in the fields of organic, inorganic, analytical, and physical chemistry. It also has faculty members that have MSc degrees to aid in the basic courses in the department.

Isra University has been keen to prepare advanced educational laboratories for all stages of the bachelor's degree comparable to those in prestigious universities. The bachelor degree study plan is designed to link chemistry to technology, industry, and other sciences, so that the program graduates are well equipped for any line of work they choose to pursue.

Departmental Mission:

Excellence in learning and teaching chemistry, in conducting research and in serving the society

Message:

Produce graduates who are qualified theoretically and practically in the field of chemistry by providing a stimulating educational and research environment to meet the needs of the job market.

Objectives:

  • Prepare graduates who are able to employ their theoretical and practical skills to meet the needs of the job market.
  • Develop students' skills in scientific thinking and problem-solving in the fields of chemistry and their applications.
  • Develop the skills of critical thinking and scientific research among the students.
  • Encourage faculty members to conduct research in the field of chemistry.
  • Activate community service through voluntary programs carried out by students and faculty members.

Degree Plan:

The degree plan of the B.Sc. in chemistry involves 135 credit hours, out of which 68 hours are in mandatory chemistry courses, 12 hours are for electives and 7 hours are mandatory as supplements for the chemistry major.

Students Activities:

The department encourages students to get involved in extracurricular activities like scientific visits to chemical factories and research centers. It also encourages its’ students to participate in college activities such as “Scientific Day”. At the university level, it encourages its’ students to attend conferences held in Isra University and in other universities in Jordan, and it encourages them to offer their services to the local community through the deanship of student affairs.

Future Departmental Plans:

The department is looking forward to providing quality services for the local community, especially for nearby schools. The department is also planning to establish research laboratories for the department faculty members. The chemistry department is planning to establish a graduate program in the near future, using the expertise of the highly qualified faculty members, who are graduates of the best American, European, and international universities.
