Projects funded by Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union

Project Title: Introducing Recent Electrical Engineering Developments into undergraduate curriculum
609971-EPP-1-2019-1-JO-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP
Reference Number
The main objective of the IREEDER project is to improve the capacities of high quality education in Jordan, using state of art technology and training staff on improving the quality of the courses taught by making best use of these technologies. Specifically, IREEDER aims at introducing the recent developments in Electrical Engineering to the undergraduate curricula, where three subjects in renewable energy, Internet of things and Cyber security will be developed. Also, three laboratories for training the students in the selected topics will be established in three different Jordanian partners. The reason behind this project is mainly to enhance the quality if the graduated engineers by providing the basic knowledge and the necessary skills to enter the labor market in Jordan. The three selected subjects have been chosen based on a need analysis of the Jordanian market. IREEDER includes five Jordanian partners and five European partners, who have the willing and the ability to accomplish this cooperative project by exchanging the experience towards achieving the project aims

Project Title: Developing a MultidiscipliNary Diploma on Art Therapy in Health Education
610134-EPP-1-2019-1-JO-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP
Reference Number
The Main objective of Healing Project is to develop a multidisciplinary diploma in Art therapy in Health Education as well as to Establish Art Therapy Centre in each partner university. HEALING project will be designed and implemented across (8) Universities in Tunisia, Jordan and, coordinated by the University of Jordan. The main objective of the project is to represent and encourage the development of the Arts Therapies and Arts Therapies education in partner countries, in particular, to design professional educational program (e-learning package) that will enable all staff and students working with patients with long term conditions to offer their patients arts-based therapeutic activities. The consortium will collaborate to create materials for the eLearning package of vocational training for staff and students in how to use the arts as a therapeutic tool. This new learning package will enable staff from a variety of professional backgrounds to include the arts as part of their therapeutic work. (The Arts Therapies include art therapy, dance therapy, drama therapy and music therapy). Art Therapy Diploma with (24) new courses will be designed and implemented. according to Bologna process for undergraduate & graduate students, accredited and adapted into the involved departments, which equals to 120 ECTS) There is a lack of awareness of the real value of arts therapy. Considering the lack of institutes, therapists and use, this comes as no surprise. Again, pressure on health providers, lack of resources, low numbers of professionals, large numbers of patients, the range of needs and access to health centers sometimes drives health providers to cover basic medical services and disregard treatments that are underdeveloped in their countries as luxuries. From here comes the need for this Arts Therapy Center. Where it will raise awareness of the role of arts therapy, raise the number of professionals in this field and provide therapeutic services.
Aims and Scope

ملخص البحث
The main goal of the proposed project is to produce various metal oxides-based glass and glass ceramic materials using different fabrication techniques. The proposed work will investigate their physical, thermal, mechanical, optical and structural properties by utilizing several techniques like Fourier Transformation Infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectrometry, Differential Thermal analysis (DTA) scanning, and Ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV). While the radiation absorption characteristics of alternative/innovative shielding material will be studied with experimental method using gamma spectrometer equipped with HPGe detector and radioactive point sources in the energy range of 0.356-1.33 MeV. These experimental findings will be evaluated using Monte Carlo simulation (Geant4 and MCNP5 codes) and will be compared to those of lead, different glass systems and standard concretes.

Synthesis of Bis-Triazoles as Promising Antitumor agents In Vivo Evaluations For Cancer Therapy
فريق العمل
د. ميساء صالح - د. أمجد أبو رميلة - د. رابعة الروسان - د. لؤي حسونة - د. سهى أبو دولة
ملخص البحث
A novel new series of bis-triazoleswere developed to stabilize G-quadruplex structures selectively as G4 ligands and potential antitumor agents. Preliminary studies showed that two of them (47 and 49) bind selectively to the Hsp90 promoter G4 more than the telomeric G4-DNA. This result leads us to a hypothesis that when ligands47 and 49 stabilize promoter G4 of Hsp90 gene, the gene expression and its product Hsp90 protein will be down-regulated causing degradation and destabilization of Hsp90 clients that promote cancer cells growth and surviving, like telomerase, kinases ….etc. Both lead compounds showed selective potent cell growth inhibitory and cytotoxicity against different types of human cancer cell lines and good selectivity for them over the normal lung fibroblasts cell line, making them promising antitumor agents for cancer therapy. Further in vitro studies are required for ligands 47 and 49 to corroborate the hypothesis of their binding to promoter G4 at Hsp90 gene, and identify and find other molecular targets and mechanisms of action in different types of cancer cell lines. Then, in vivo studies for the ligands 47 and 49will be done on different types of human cancer xenograft models. But before that, enough amounts of both ligands are required to be synthesized for those studies.

Development of novel dry powder inhaler dosage forms
فريق العمل
د. ايمان الزميلي - د. أمجد أبو رميلة - د. سامر العلي - د. نسرين دهشان
ملخص البحث
Dry powder inhalers (DPIs), as their name implies, contain and deliver the active medicament as a dry powder of suitable aerodynamic size for respiratory therapy. Dry powder particles of a suitable size, generally less than 6 microns, can be readily produced by micronization or by other size-reduction methods. However, such particles have high surface area to mass ratios, making them highly cohesive/adhesive. Consequently, the drug must be formulated in such a way that the energy input during inhalation is sufficient to overcome the contiguous adhesive and cohesive particle forces, aerosolizing the powder for respiratory deposition.

ملخص البحث
Antioxidants are defined simply as chemical compounds or substances that inhibit oxidation.Antioxidants act as Free radicalscavenger by donation of electrons to neutralize them. The beneficial effect of antioxidants oncellular function and the maintenance of health in humans has become a subject of vital importance, which has motivated many scientific groups across the world.Over last twenty years there has beena plethora of studies, which prove importance of antioxidants, but from the chemical point of viewsynthetic antioxidants have restricted use in food due to their toxicological effects and suspectedcarcinogenic potential.
