Within the framework of the role of Isra University in promoting public health and serving the community, and under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hamid, President of the University, the Community Service and Cultural Activities Committee at the Faculty of Nursing organized an awareness event entitled “Diabetes and Quality of Life” on Wednesday, 12/08/2024, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, on the occasion of World Diabetes Day.

The event was held to promote public health and community service, and raise health awareness about diabetes and its relationship to quality of life. Community Health Nursing students, under the supervision of faculty members, provided free services to participants, including checking fasting blood sugar levels, measuring blood pressure to assess cardiovascular health, and measuring blood oxygen levels to determine the efficiency of breathing and blood circulation, measuring the height and weight of participants, calculating the body mass index (BMI) to assess the relationship between weight and height. The importance of measuring it lies in the possibility of curing type 2 diabetes patients in adults who have a "healthy" BMI by losing 10% or more of their weight. The activity was attended by 281 beneficiaries of different age groups.

Prof. Dr. Wafika Abdul Rahim Zahir, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, expressed her sincere thanks to His Excellency the University President for his continuous support and opening of the event, and to the Cultural and Public Relations and Supplies Department the Chairperson and members of the Community Service and Cultural Activities Committee, and to all participating students for their great efforts in making the event a success. She also thanked the attendees for their positive interaction that contributed to the success of the event.
